Jesse Ortiz is regarded as one of the premier golf club designers in the world, and has more than 35 years of experience in the golf industry. He started as a club maker in 1968, and he was instrumental in growing Orlimar Golf Company into a $100 million enterprise.

Ortiz left his post as the Chief Designer of Orlimar Golf Company in 2003 and soon formed his own company, the Ortiz Design Studio™. Technology

The Bobby Jones Workshop Edition driver by Jesse Ortiz uses the USGA maximum dimensions of 460cc and five-inch-by-five-inch. The driver’s triangular shape increases the “gear effect,” which results in maximum correction on off-center hits and improves upon the competing square-head designs. A square-head driver helps correct extreme heel and toe miss-hits, but it does not effectively correct those hit slightly off center.

The efficiency of the club’s triangular shape is characterized by Ortiz’ trademarked “Triangle of Stability™” which limits the use of inefficient mass often found in square-head designs. Instead, Ortiz repositioned this weight deep and directly behind the center of the impact zone, thus maximizing the club’s “gear effect” which improves trajectory and reduces the spin rate.

“I prefer to design a club for maximum forgiveness on 95% of shots, not for the 5% of extremely poor ones,” Ortiz said, when explaining why the triangular design exceeds square-head options in playability and performance.

Milled with Russian Beta Titanium (BT-23), the face of the driver provides a distinctive sound and feel. The elimination of score-lines creates a more rigid face, further reducing shot deflection. The club features weight-reducing graphite composite crowns and toe pieces.
