yea, do you have a camcorder, take movies of your swing, how does it compare with others…copy there style, and then take another movie, see if you are close to a good swing……and then practice, practice, practice.

You want to improve….but you don’t want to take any lessons? Ya know even the best guys who play on TV on Sunday’s have swing coaches. Ok…… Here is my answer.
Lessons ( or advice) by committee is not going to solve your swing problems. Why? Because we can not see what you are doing. ( this is where the teaching pro comes in) In order to fix it we gotta be able to see it. Knowing what the result is does not give us the specifics of what caused that result.

In my opinion, for the time and money, get a lesson. I have a pro that I go to 3 times a year no matter how well or poorly I am playing. That is the key. Finding someone that you are compatible with and someone who is going to take what you already know about the game and implement it properly.
If your reason for taking lessons is b/c you are embarrassed of how bad you currently are, dont worry about it. You have to start somewhere.

i think lessons sucks. i tried to take some but he was messing up my swing and i couldnt hit the ball the way he wanted me too. best way to start is hit the drving range and take half swings with all your clubs. learn the point of impact with each one. as you get more comfortable start making your swing go back further. you will see in a short time that you have delevoped a good full swing and hitting the ball correctly. you get good solid impact and good ball travel. thats the best tip i can give you.

what is the loft of your driver? if they are going right your face is open at impact or you are not transferring your weight on the downswing. One lesson to learn how to square your face at impact wouldn't hurt. If you are just totally against it, subscribe to a golf magazine. They are full of tips for golfers whether you are a beginner or have a 0 handicap. I am partial to Golf Magazine. I have personally never taken a lesson and I have improved my game every year for the last 5 or 6 years. Also watch the Golf Channel.

You definitely should get a lesson but some simple fixes on your slice. Make sure when you grip the club both V's point at your right shoulder. Look up the golf grip on line and you can see how this is done. Second lightly grip the club and relax your arms when you swing relaxed muscles move faster. Third work on your temp should be a fluid motion swinging at about 80%. Fourth. concentrate on taking the club back long and wide this helps get your swing on plane. Fifth follow through make your finish look like the pga tour professionals. sixth keep your eye on the ball and have good posture. Maintain a good spine angle and turn around your spine. Remember you might not hit the ball well at first but if you do all these things you will eventually.
